How to Create at Tripod

Part 2: What should my site be about?

This is a very good question. For some it is something they look long and hard for. I thought about it myself for quite a while before I came up with the right answer. I would recommend making your site about something that you are very knowledgeable of.

My site is about prophecy because I have done a great deal of research on it in the past. Your site can be devoted to almost anything you wish. You can be very creative and make it about a fictitious topic, or something serious as I have. A great example is Denise Andresen. Her and her husband Eric created the WebTV SIG site that I am sure you've all heard of. Denise also created The Cathead On A Stick Kindness Page and Free Peach On The Web. Both are about fun topics and is somewhat satirical but the WebTV SIG site is serious and helpful to new and old WebTV subscibers. Denise once told me that the internet is so big and there is so much information, opinions and ideas out there that there is room for any idea or topic.

Look at Net4TV. They have serious subjects such as building your own website and weird stories such as Murder Makes Strange Deadfellows. The point is that when building your own site the topic can be about anything, well, almost.....

What not to make the site about

When making a site at Tripod or Geocities, or about anywhere else, there are some rules you have to adhere to. You cannot have explicit material, no unfriendly racial or ethnic remarks (no hate), no pirated software, or anything illegal. To view the entire terms of service for Tripod click here. I would strongly recommend that you read all of it before signing up for membership there. If you feel that you cannot agree to the terms of service there then, go elsewhere. Besides, WebTV's terms of service is similar in that you cannot conduct the same sort of activity on-line through WebTV.

Finally, I say that you should make your site about something that truly interests you and a large number of people. Keep it clean, be nice, and have fun!

May you have a great deal of traffic to your new site!
